COGA’s annual Community Impact Report showcases the dedication and charitable efforts of Colorado’s oil and natural gas industry and employees who gave to local nonprofits through philanthropic contributions, volunteer work, and organization partnerships in the communities where they live and work. Highlights from this year’s report include:
Since release of COGA’s first Community Impact Report in 2017, members have volunteered nearly 250,000 hours and contributed more than $50 million in charitable donations to over 700 local nonprofit organizations, based on data provided by more than 82 COGA member companies. COGA’s members have demonstrated leadership on issues that Coloradans care about – not just through words, but through action, investing millions each year and volunteering thousands of hours. It was especially in a year like 2020, where the need was even greater. Our collective and ongoing work, whether out in the field or volunteering at a nonprofit, brings alignment to the values we all share – clean air and clean water, safe schools and strong families, support for our communities, and protecting the beautiful state that we all call home. The Colorado Energy Foundation also announced grant distributions for 2021 of more than $130,000 to six nonprofit partners on behalf of the oil and natural gas industry. Each of the community partners selected for funding this year share a common thread – they are committed to reducing systemic barriers to equity and access for all Coloradans through their mission. From providing essential food and energy security, to supporting student achievement and developing Colorado’s workforce of the future, each of these organizations have a fundamental impact on our communities. As part of its fundraising efforts, the Colorado Energy Foundation co-hosted the 5th Annual Mardi Gras Ball virtually on February 12, 2021. Since 2017, COGA’s Mardi Gras Ball has raised nearly $900,000 for direct community investment. All proceeds benefit the Colorado Energy Foundation and the nonprofit partners they support.
